Eagles Nest Retreat is the result of many years of hard work and much love.
The main house is built following the principles enounced by the great Californian architect Christopher Alexander in his principal work, "A Pattern Language".
The post & beam and glass house makes use of many high quality recycled materials such as turn-of-the-century English slate, doors and tiles, as well as a profusion of fine woods harvested under our sustainable forestry plan and milled on the property. The floor to ceiling glassed side of the house overlooks the ocean to the south and a myriad of other islands against the distant glaciers of the Olympic range in the state of Washington.
Wishing to share our privileged location with others, we started with a B&B in the early nineties. Mount Galiano Eagles Nest B&B was soon featured in "Northwest Best Places",
a no advertising guide to exceptional lodging and eating places in the Pacific Northwest.
Switching focus in 2000, our retreat became one of the top vacation rentals in the Gulf Islands, with full capacity bookings throughout the summer.
Eagles Nest Retreat now caters to executive retreats, art and wellness workshops, family reunions and intimate weddings.
Through purchase and, in part donation in 2003, the government acquired a large part of our exceptionally scenic property leaving us with a 20 acre enclave inside the new Gulf Islands National Park. We are now surrounded by ocean and over 200 acres of protected land .
With
LM Naturel™, we are expanding into designing and producing clothing made of the highest quality of alternative and organically grown fabrics such as hemp, bamboo and soya.
We are open to networking with like-minded groups and organizations.

We are also sailors and, every winter, Eagles Nest Retreat is available to groups or organizations with longer term projects while we sail our ketch "NANOO" in other parts of the world.

Our name is after an active eagle's nest on the property. It is placed so that it can be observed from a position above and about 60 meters away. The parents lay two eggs in it every spring and they zealously attend the young until they fly around the end of July.
Apart from the numerous deer, seals, sea lions and otters, we are frequently treated to the extraordinary spectacle of a pod of Orcas passing in front of the house.
